Education
Jim Edwards earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics (with a minor in mathematics) from the University of Illinois. After that, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a radiation safety officer and chemist. Craving excitement, Jim earned his teaching credential from San Francisco State University in 1986 and, since then, dull moments have been rare during his twenty years of science and math instruction in San Diego!
He has enjoyed alternative educational settings, such as the School of Creative and Performing Arts and Mt. Everest Academy, a K-12 independent study school, where he has taught biology, physics, and chemistry and serves as department chair. His popular science club at Mt. Everest supplements science curriculum for middle school students.
Most recently, Jim earned a Master of Arts degree in teaching and learning from National University. He has participated in the California Consortium of Independent Study and has served on an accreditation team for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Schools. He shares his San Diego home with family and friends and holds a special affection for his German shepherd dog, Krissy.
