National University Virtual High School

Education is the center of growth for all young adults.  However, the opportunity to receive the highest quality and most appropriate education is not always accessible to all students.  NUVHS provides a special opportunity for all students to be successful in their education and in the competitive world beyond.

Roland Yung earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in secondary education from North Central College, Illinois.  He then went on to earn a Masters of Science degree in effective teaching, learning, and leadership from Drake University, Iowa.

Roland Yung joined the National University Virtual High School (NUVHS) in July 2004 with five years of teaching experience.  He taught one year at East Aurora High School in Illinois, teaching U.S. History, World Cultures, Black History, and Latino History.  Roland then taught U.S. History and World History at Muscatine High School for three years in Iowa.  At Muscatine High School, he facilitated a Diversity Lecture Series, taught ACT preparation classes, and designed a school-wide standardized test preparation video series with custom study guides. He has also served as a mentoring teacher for a new student teacher and as the advisor for the school's Key Club (community service organization).  While in San Diego, Roland was a founding teacher and member of the Board of Directors of the first KIPP charter school in San Diego.

In February 2006, Roland accepted an instructional design position with a San Diego firm.  He continues to provide consultant services to NUVHS from time to time and remains a resource in the areas of curriculum and instruction for the administrative staff at NUVHS.  In addition, Roland teaches social science and elective courses for the school.
