Cal-SOAP Offers Free SAT and ACT 3-Session Workshop

February 24, 2007

Are you a junior in high school who needs assistance preparing for the SAT and ACT tests required for college admission? If you are, Cal-SOAP is offering a free SAT and ACT preparation workshop. There are three sessions to complete the workshop.

The workshop dates are as follows: Saturday, March 17th, Saturday, March 24th, and Saturday, March 31st.  All workshops will run from 9:00am to 12:00pm and will be held at UC San Diego, 9500 Gilman Drive, La Jolla, CA 92093, Center Hall 101.  Admission is free!

Sponsored by San Diego and Imperial Counties California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP), this workshop series is designed to assist students in the Class of 2008 for their SAT and ACT tests. To qualify for admission to a four-year college students must take the SAT or ACT. It is recommended they take either test during the spring semester of 11th grade. We strongly encourage students to participate in a preparation workshop series to prepare to take this important exam.

Items to be discussed in the preparation workshop include: the difference between the SAT and ACT and which one will suit each student better; which colleges require the SAT Subject Tests in addition to the SAT/ ACT and what subjects are offered; how the tests are structured and scored; tips and strategies for performing well; sample problems.
